The Creation of My Store – Shirley’s Memories

Why did I name my store Shirley’s Memories?

Very simple. One of the most amazing women in my life was my grandmother. Her name is Shirley. Here is a picture of her.

My grandmother made me the woman who I am today. I am forever grateful for her playing a huge part in raising me. No matter what life threw at me, she was always there with kind words, a hug and that huge smile she has. She was the sweetest woman I have ever known.

She lived her life for her family. You could never leave her house without a full stomach. She was a genuine Italian. Loved to cook, eat, and cook for others. You could see the sparkle in her eye as she watched you eat her amazing food. Some of the best times spent were sitting across from her on her dinning room table. That is where she is in the picture above. Sitting at her favorite spot in the dinning room. She would wait for her family there with a smile and a hug as you came to see her. And the food she made, you could tell it was made with love. Everything she did was always with love.

My grandmother always encouraged me to do something I loved for a living. I always knew I wanted to sell online. I love computers, retail, and I love people. She would throw eBay out there all of the time. I didn’t believe in myself like she did. I didn’t think I could run a business on my own. But after she passed I knew I wanted to do something that would make her proud.

I also wanted to keep her memory alive. A light bulb went off in my head and that was when Shirley’s Memories was created. As corny as it may sound…I finally found what I was looking for. =) I love what I do and wouldn’t have it any other way. Welcome to Shirley’s Memories.

From the mind of an internet seller…

As my first blog post, I will start by telling a little bit about myself…

My name is Jessica and I live in Savannah, Georgia. I was born and raised here and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Savannah has one thing that makes people fall in love with it…character.

I grew up on a little island that used to be known as “Savannah Beach.” It is now known as Tybee Island. Tybee made my childhood wonderful. I only live about 10 minutes away from Tybee now, but in those 10 miles, the world changes drastically.

I have been an internet seller for a while now. As most sellers, I started out on a little site you might know as eBay. Many changes have occurred on eBay over the last year and that lead me to looking for other sites to list my inventory.

This blog will be about the “other” sites with a little rambling about eBay (usually not good thoughts). Like many other sellers, I loved eBay at one point in time. Now you are very lucky to make a living there anymore. I still list some items there, but am more for other seller friendly sites like Bonanlze. Check out Bonanzle

Many buyers aren’t familiar with Bonanzle and that is why we are trying to get the word out. It a very user friendly site with amazing deals! Since sellers do not have to pay the high fees that eBay charges, they are more willing to mark their inventory down on Bonanzle. Now that is the “new” place to find a good “steal!”

Please check out my booth at Bonanzle!
